A study published in the journal Radiology found that the Breast Imaging Reporting and Data System detected category 3 breast lesions in 19.5%, or 519, of 2,662 women studied, of which only six were found to be malignant. Since the rate is so low, the authors wrote, "a recommendation of yearly follow-up for BI-RADS category 3 lesions may be appropriate."
