Data show that 3.8% of pregnant women developed preeclampsia in 2010, up from approximately 3.4% in 1980, U.S. researchers said. Although rates of mild preeclampsia slightly dropped in the last 30 years, particularly among women younger than age 30, cases of severe preeclampsia increased more than threefold, according to the study in the journal BMJ.
