A middle school in Nebraska is working to encourage more eighth-grade students to use the school library, in part, by asking teachers to make the library part of instruction and by staying informed on young-adult reading trends. Officials say that 2,500 more items have been checked out of the school library this year over last year. Librarians also say they are working to make the library more welcoming, encouraging students to come in and browse.
