Nurse researchers say their studies suggest music can have a role in relieving pain and anxiety. Registered nurse Linda Chlan at Ohio State University College of Nursing said music operates on many levels and can distract patients, while senior nurse researcher Sandra Siedlecki at the Cleveland Clinic found patients who listened to music had less pain, depression and disability overall when compared with patients who did not listen to music.
