Children diagnosed with lupus were slightly more likely to develop cancer later in life, particularly hematological cancers, compared with the general population, McGill University researchers wrote in the journal Arthritis Research & Therapy. Among lupus patients, the highest cancer occurrence rate was during the 10 to 19 years following lupus diagnosis, according to the study.
