Patients who underwent left gastric artery embolization lost 7.9% of their body weight on average after three months, compared with a 1.2% loss in the control arm that had embolization of a different artery, according to an analysis scheduled for presentation at a radiology meeting. "Embolizing the left gastric artery may be a potential bariatric treatment for weight loss and an alternative to other invasive procedures," researcher Dr. Rahmi Oklu wrote in a statement.
