Endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration appears superior to endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration for initial assessment of lung cancer, especially in patients with right-sided tumors, according to trial data published in Thorax. Although it may be slightly more difficult to tolerate for some patients, endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration is overall a better choice for lung tumor staging, the researchers concluded.
