In an analysis of data from the 2003-2010 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, researchers found that the rate of chronic malnutrition was twice as high in Hispanic children and teens than non-Hispanic whites. Hispanic youths also were more likely to have micronutrient deficiencies, particularly vitamin D, iron, folate and iodine. Across all ethnicities, more girls than boys had nutritional deficiencies, according to the study in the Pan American Journal of Public Health.
