Eighty-eight percent of participants who enrolled in the customized texting service Txt4health said the initiative made them more aware of type 2 diabetes risks, while 89% reported being more conscious of their diet and exercise habits, a study on the website of the Journal of Medical Internet Research says. Researchers also found that 78% of patients said they were more likely to substitute water for sugar-laden drinks, while 80% were more likely to buy healthier items when shopping and 76% were more inclined to eat grilled, baked and broiled foods over fried items.
