Sumner County, Tenn., emergency workers are getting nearly $550,000 in technological upgrades, including 13 new ventilators and 15 new cardiac monitors. EMS paramedics participated in a six-hour clinical in a critical care setting for ventilator training qualification. Officials hope the new equipment and training will aid hospital staffing since respiratory therapists or critical care nurses will not be required to go on ambulance transports.
