Construction of the first phase of the Silver Line rail project that will run from Prince George's County in Maryland to Reston, Va., was to have been completed by the end of last month. But, the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority wants to conduct more testing and work on the line's automatic control system before handing the line over to Metro. "Our guiding principle throughout this process has been 'safety first' and we remain committed to that principal," said Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project Executive Director Pat Nowakowski. Further extension of the line to the Washington Dulles International Airport in Virginia is expected to be completed in 2018.
