Federal data show that the U.S. exported 53.1 million gallons of ethanol in October, down 2% from September but still higher than the average for the first 10 months of 2013, according to Ann Lewis, a research analyst at the Renewable Fuels Association. U.S. ethanol imports fell to an 18-month low at 13.1 million gallons in October, resulting in the biggest margin of net exports since May 2012, Lewis writes. Exports of distillers dried grains stood at 935,370 metric tons, up 19% from September and the second-highest monthly tally in more than two years, Lewis states.
