Diversity is a key component for business success, according to Mellody Hobson, president of Ariel Investments, who also serves on Starbucks' board. She said her firm "put[s] tremendous pressure" on companies to include women and minorities on their boards. However, one obstacle that could complicate the push for diversity is that some companies restrict the number of boards their executives can join.
