Teachers seeking leadership roles must clearly define "teacher leadership" and the goals of that leadership -- or they could be relegated to busy work, middle-grades educator Jose Luis Vilson writes in this blog post. He suggests that teacher leadership includes tasks such as collaborating on curriculum development and mentoring colleagues, but does not necessarily include disciplinarian work or data creation. "When I think of teacher leadership, I think of teachers creating, facilitating, and helping items that directly influence student learning," he writes.
