Football can be used in schools to engage students in science, technology, engineering and math lessons, former Yale University engineering professor Ainissa Ramirez writes in this blog post. Ramirez provides a list of ways to highlight the sport in the classroom, including exploring why woodpeckers do not get concussions, and she notes that many of the lessons fall under the Next Generation Science Standards.
