Instagram uses Foursquare's location data rather than Facebook's, and that's a vulnerability that Mark Zuckerberg isn't likely to tolerate for long, writes Owen Thomas. If other tech companies -- Apple, say, or Google -- start sniffing around Foursquare, then Facebook might be forced to pay top dollar to buy the location network. That would give Facebook some additional security, along with a valuable array of location and behavioral data that could be baked into many of its other services, Thomas writes.
