Work has started on building components for the country's first offshore wind farm to be located in Cape Cod's Nantucket Sound, according to Siemens, the company that will supply the wind turbines for the facility. "They are doing significant work. There are some foundations being built and developments being done," said Markus Tacke, CEO of Siemens' wind power division. However, the $2.6 billion proposed project still needs to overcome some lawsuits, and conduct geotechnical and geophysical surveys as well as obtain incidental permits, according to a Cape Cod Times article.
