Freight carload traffic of U.S. railroads dropped 8.2% in the week ending Jan. 11 year-on-year, and intermodal fell 6.7%, according to the Association of American Railroads. Overall traffic in the U.S. for the latest week decreased 7.5%. However, shipments of grain commodities rose 10.1%, AAR noted.
