The AICPA is lauding many of the proposals released by Senate Finance Chairman Max Baucus, D-Mont., in November aimed at making the tax-filing process easier and the tax code more streamlined. Among his suggestions that the AICPA approves of include measures to prevent combat identity theft, placing scannable code on mailed-in returns that are prepared by a computer and requiring more information for reporting mortgage interest.
