Jennifer Davis Bowman, an adjunct professor at the University of Cincinnati and a licensed school counselor in Ohio, has created a checklist designed to better help herself and other educators assist students in need of academic intervention. In this blog post, she writes that the checklist calls, among other things, for teachers to examine whether the student has expressed a direct need for intervention, whether the student could conceptualize the need for help and whether the student is aware of the available options for academic support.
