Between 200,000 and 300,000 people in West Virginia are without potable water this morning after a chemical spill from Freedom Industries Thursday night occurred above the intake valve of the Kanawha Valley Water Treatment Plant along the Elk River. The chemical, 4-Methylcyclohexane Methanol, could cause skin and eye irritation and be harmful if swallowed. Nine counties are affected. The governor declared a state of emergency, and the White House followed suit.
