Two new spans across the Mississippi River between Minnesota and Wisconsin are being built and will replace the aged Interstate 90 bridge. Crews on the multimillion dollar project are now at work creating 11 of the required 18 piers. The largest piers, each of which are filled concrete, will be driven 60 feet below the river's surface and will rise 90 feet above the river. Work is scheduled to be completed in 2016.
