Job openings in November rose to a seasonally adjusted 4 million, their highest level in more than five years, according to data released last week by the U.S. Labor Department. The number of people quitting their jobs also hit a five-year high, reaching a seasonally adjusted 2.4 million. However, data show that the numbers did not coincide with employers bringing on new workers, as hiring rose only 0.2% in November.
