Sequencing babies' genomes has allowed early interventions and effective treatment for some gene-based disorders, but sequencing also creates a record that could lead to job discrimination or lifelong fears of developing a disease, experts say. As sequencing becomes less expensive and more readily available, health experts, patients and parents wonder who will pay, how much information should be shared and whether only certain patients should be eligible for sequencing.
