A pet spider monkey who bit a man at an Ohio car dealership was euthanized and tested negative for rabies. Some advocates for monkeys argue the euthanasia was unnecessary because the monkey was reportedly vaccinated last year, but North Carolina Zoo veterinarian Ryan DeVoe points out that rabies vaccination in non-human primates hasn't been proven effective. The monkey's owner, 20-year-old Jacob Ruehlman, did not have an exotic animal permit.
