The Federal Communications Commission said it has reached out to several major hotel companies regarding a petition to change the 911 dialing systems in hotels. The petition was created in the wake of the murder of Kari Rene Hunt, a hotel guest in Marshall, Texas, last December. "[Kari's] death will not be in vain if we can take action to ensure that whenever someone calls 911, they connect with emergency personnel," FCC Commissioner Ajit Pai said. "Over the coming weeks and months, that's exactly what I intend to do."
