The Obama administration on Monday reached an agreement with several technology firms that allows the companies to inform consumers about government data requests. The tech companies would still have little recourse when it comes to denying requests, and the released data will be in broad ranges and categories. "While this is a very positive step, we'll continue to encourage Congress to take additional steps to address all of the reforms we believe are needed," according to a joint statement from Facebook, Microsoft, Google, Yahoo and LinkedIn, which had sued the government, seeking greater disclosures.
