Juniper Research predicts a sixfold increase in the number of "phablet" shipments by 2018, reaching 120 million units shipped per year compared with about 20 million last year. East Asia markets are expected to drive the trend, largely because of popularity among gamers. Separately, IDC predicts that Android and iOS' share of the worldwide tablet market will begin to decline next year, to 60.7% and 33.1%, while Windows will nearly double to 5.7%.
