Worldwide processing of 10 major oilseeds is expected to increase to a record 405.1 million metric tons through September 2014 from 387.7 million metric tons a year earlier, according to an Oil World report. The research company's original crushing forecast of 401.1 million metric tons was increased because of heightened projections for rapeseed crush, according to the report.
"Soybeans will be the growth leader with an additional 12 million tons to be processed, followed by sunflower seed and rapeseed," Oil World writes.
