Horsehead Holding is cutting back operations at its plant near Monaca, Pa., as Shell prepares to demolish the facility and continues to consider building an ethane cracker at the site. "As the transition of zinc production to our Mooresboro, N.C., facility is in the final stages, we have agreed with Shell that demolition and related activities can commence immediately at our Monaca plant in certain areas which may be expanded once the smelter is closed," said Horsehead CEO Jim Hensler.
