The Republican-led House Energy and Commerce Committee passed a measure on Tuesday that would block the government's proposed rules on carbon capture. Under the bill, the Environmental Protection Agency can only require new coal plants to adopt carbon capture technology if six plants have successfully used the technology for a year. "The technology being driven by this administration is not feasible at this time. The goal of my friends on the left is to shut down fossil-fuel energy," said Rep. John Shimkus, R-Ill.
