The Idaho Senate is considering a bill that would protect wineries in the state in the event of a suspended or lost license. The bill would allow wineries to continue bottling and grape production, two activities that current laws immediately stop, which legislators say also hurts farmers. An immediate shutdown could cause a crop loss and "it would probably close [small wineries] down permanently," said Roger Batt, Idaho Wine Commission's legislative educator.
