Sioux City Community Schools' students are getting a head start on their futures through a career academies program. In addition to earning high-school and college credits in a growing number of subjects, they can learn vocational skills, such as firefighting, from professionals. "We have some students who feel lost where they don't know what they want to do. I think this is helping those students in that situation," said Jim Vanderloo, the district's secondary education director.
