From 2008 to 2013, Wheaton College in Massachusetts reduced its full-time faculty payroll by 8% and nonacademic payroll by 13% in an effort to reduce its budget. The college joins other institutions in the state such as Boston's Suffolk University, which this fall semester cut faculty by 15% from the previous year. Wellesley College also reportedly is looking at ways to cut about $20 million in annual spending.
