NASA's Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy, dubbed SOFIA, will carry educators from 11 states this year, including two from Wisconsin. Jean Creighton, director of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee's Manfred Olson Planetarium, and Kathy Gustavson, a science teacher at Nicolet High School in Wisconsin, will go to California for training in the spring, then will be passengers on two 10-hour flights aboard the flying astronomical observatory.
