The NFL is adding wireless transmitters in Times Square and at MetLife Stadium to deliver location-based, personalized ads and Super Bowl information to nearby users. The transmitters -- often called beacons -- will send information, including store sales and entry gate locations, to smartphone users with the NFL Mobile application. "The power of this is it really is able to connect the real world, the brick-and-mortar world, with the virtual world with a level of granularity that hasn't existed before," said Manish Jha, general manager of mobile for the NFL.
