A wind-power prototype in Castine Harbor in Maine withstood storms last November and December, according to researchers at the University of Maine Advanced Structures and Composites Center. Habib Dagher, a civil engineering professor at the university, and other researchers gathered data from the 70 sensors placed on the turbine's platform. "We feel very confident now that we have something we can build that will survive a 100-year storm in the state of Maine," Dagher said.
