China's nonmanufacturing purchasing managers index slipped to 54.6% in December from 56% the previous month, but the decline was traced to a seasonal slowdown in the construction and service sectors. "However, market demand remained relatively stable, as indicated by a flat index for new orders," commented Cai Jin, vice chairman of the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing, which helped compile the index.
