Samsung Electronics says its net profits were lower in the fourth quarter, including no change in profit for its mobile division even though it sold more smartphones and tablets. Mobile unit revenues declined by 9% amid higher marketing costs, and executives predicted continued weakness in the first half of this year. The company issued an optimistic outlook for the overall mobile market in 2014, but analysts warned that much of Samsung's growth has come in low-end devices from emerging markets.
