IT workers in a number of sectors could see their jobs disappear over the next five years thanks to increasingly intuitive software, automated analytics and "smart" technologies, a forecast from Gartner says. Analysts expect more than 60% of the world's financial institutions to move operations to the cloud, posing a threat to in-house IT. The move won't be limited to front line staff, with forecasts showing a majority of government organizations with both a chief information officer and a chief digital officer will drop one of those positions in the near future.
