World leaders pledged to give all students access to a primary-school education by 2015, but a recent report from the U.N. Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization finds that this goal may not be met. Data show about 120 million children have spent little or no time in a classroom, with 57 million not attending school at all. The report revealed around 250 million primary-school age children cannot read, write or perform basic mathematics.
