U.S. retailers must adopt more secure technology, such as the Europay/MasterCard/Visa chip-based payment cards used in Europe, to combat the data breaches seen at Neiman Marcus and Target, said Visa CEO Charlie Scharf. "Visa is committed to ensuring our network operates at the highest level of security available and will continue to move the industry towards the adoption of new safeguards, including EMV chip and tokenization," he said.
