Using weather forecasts to predict outdoor temperature changes and channeling that information into commercial building-management systems can produce significant energy savings, research at Australia's University of Adelaide indicates. The information transforms passive indoor systems into pre-emptive systems that anticipate the need for heating and cooling, saving more than 10% in energy costs, researchers found.
