Overzealous IT departments threaten to derail as many as 20% of all enterprise BYOD projects over the next two years thanks to mobile device management platforms that fail to distinguish between company and personal data, according to a new study from Gartner. Analyst Ken Dulaney cautions firms considering strong MDM controls that opting for administration policies, which have the appearance of violating employee privacy, will likely undermine any BYOD benefits.
