Lawmakers questioned Army officials this week about allegations of more than $29 million in fraudulently obtained recruiting bonuses. Questionable payments to more than 3,000 soldiers are under review by the Army. "The fraud investigation is one of the largest that the Army has ever conducted, both in terms of the sheer volume of fraud and the number of participants," Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo., said at Tuesday's Senate subcommittee hearing on the issue.
