Among children with febrile seizures who received an antiepileptic drug before their arrival at the emergency department, the average seizure time was 81 minutes, compared to 95 minutes for patients who were not given the medication, a study in the journal Epilepsia showed. Following the initial dose of an antiepileptic drug, seizures lasted about 38 minutes on average, researchers said.
