Whole-body integrated FDG-PET/MRI might outperform PET/CT for detection of bone lesions, new data show. Three types of data were evaluated in the study: PET/CT, PET/MRI with T1-weighted turbo spin-echo and PET/MRI with T1-weighted volumetric interpolated breath-hold examination Dixon sequence. PET/CT and PET/MRI with T1-weighted TSE identified all of 90 malignant and eight benign bone lesions in 33 patients, but in terms of delineation and location of lesions, PET/MRI with T1-weighted TSE performed better than the other two approaches, according to details in the Journal of Nuclear Medicine.
