Google is in preliminary talks to expand its Fiber service to nearly three dozen cities in nine regions, including Phoenix, Salt Lake City and Atlanta. The proposed expansion sites would pit Google against Comcast, Cox, Time Warner Cable, CenturyLink, Frontier Communications and AT&T, but not Verizon FiOS. Google Fiber is currently available in Kansas City, Mo., Kansas City, Kan., and Provo, Utah, with plans to launch in Austin, Texas, this summer.
