The use of group patient visits has increased among family physicians, and Ed Shahady, medical director of the Diabetes Master Clinician Program at the Florida Academy of Family Physicians Foundation, said it works best for people with chronic diseases and conditions that require lifestyle changes. A 2010 study found group visits led to better health indicators among type 2 diabetes patients compared with one-on-one care.
