More than 42% of new bread products launched globally in 2013 made some kind of health claim, according to Innova Market Insights, with 75% of new bread launches in the U.S. and Australia making health claims and 70% in Latin America. Innova Market Insights reported that most of the claims were passive, meaning they referred to the product as light or organic, rather than actively promoting specific ingredients or benefits.
